London Mutual Credit Union is London's largest community credit union, serving people across Greater London. We were founded by Southwark Council employees in 1982, and are here for the people who keep London running. Today thousands of nurses, teachers, council and transport workers, members of the armed forces and their families own a stake in us, as a not-for-profit co-operative run for its members rather than shareholders. That means our profits go back into fairer rates and better services.
Members can save, borrow and buy a home with an organisation they part-own. We offer savings accounts, a current account, affordable personal loans, and short-term loans as a responsible alternative to payday lenders. We are also one of the very few credit unions in the UK to offer mortgages, with in-house advisers who can take account of NHS bank shifts, agency work and other variable income that high-street lenders often overlook, whether you are remortgaging or buying a home.
Everything is available through full online and mobile banking.
You can join if you live or are employed in the London boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster or Camden. You can also join if you work in healthcare or education anywhere in Greater London, if you work for Transport for London, or if you serve in HM Forces, including reservists. Immediate family members living at the same address can join too.
We work with employers across London, from large NHS trusts such as Guy's and St Thomas', King's College Hospital, Royal Free London and London Ambulance Service to local authorities and employers of all sizes, offering their staff savings and loans straight from payroll. Start saving, borrowing or buying a home with London Mutual today at creditunion.co.uk, or visit our branches in Peckham and on Walworth Road near Elephant and Castle.
